Dalian Customs Helps a Lithium Battery Enterprise Reuse Plastic Turnover Boxes in a Circular Manner
- Background: In recent years, the overseas market for new energy batteries has been quite promising. Dalian Taixing Energy Co., Ltd., a high-tech industrial company integrating the design and manufacturing of new energy vehicle batteries, etc., exports more than half of its products. However, the plastic turnover boxes used for the lithium batteries exported by the company to Japan are required to be disposable. With the expansion of the overseas market, the company's packaging procurement costs have soared, and a large amount of plastic waste has been generated, which does not conform to the concept of green environmental protection.
- Solutions: After a risk assessment, Dalian Customs proposed a supervision mode of "enterprise self-inspection + batch-by-batch inspection + spot inspection". Each new plastic turnover box used for circular reuse is assigned a unique RFID tag number, and the customs information system will record the status of the box. After the turnover boxes are returned to China and pass the self-inspection, the customs will conduct another inspection in accordance with the same requirements as for new boxes and issue a new packaging performance certificate, enabling the circular reuse of the plastic turnover boxes for lithium batteries under strict supervision.
- Achievements: The plastic turnover boxes meet the standards for dangerous goods packaging and can be reused for more than 5 years. The cost of each plastic box purchased by Taixing Energy Co., Ltd. ranges from 200 yuan to 300 yuan. According to the export volume estimate, the annual procurement cost of plastic boxes is about 15 million yuan. Under the new mode, except for the procurement of plastic boxes in the first year, the packaging cost will almost not increase in the following years, which has greatly enhanced the market competitiveness of the company's lithium-ion batteries.
